From Kath & Malc Abbott
A huge thank you to everyone for the generous gifts and kind words at our tea party and final service on the 29th December. We both feel very humbled at the generosity shown to us and the love and support we received from all in the benefice during the past years with you. A particular thank you to the churchwardens, past and present, to Barry, Michael, Sylvia and Alison for their support too. We are looking forward to the next exciting chapter in our lives but will miss you all. Every blessing for the future.

INTO 2020
In January, St Mary’s begins its Eco Church adventure. It is a rural tradition of the church that in January there is a service that marks the beginning of the farming season with the blessing of the plough, Plough Sunday New understanding of carbon capture and soil structure mean that the future is developing with new farming practices that cherish the soil and so this year we will be having a “NoDig Sunday” on January 12th at 9.30am. The service will start and finish outside the hall as we begin the new community vegetable beds, so wrap up warm and bring your umbrellas as we celebrate the beginning of the growing season in the parish. There will, of course, be warming refreshments for Brunch after this service.

Benefice Book Club
Please follow this link or a full list of books for the next few months and sign up at the link at the bottom of the blog for updates.
As you settle back and take a bit of time inside in these dark days why not read the benefice book club book? It is “All questions great and Small” by Adrian Plass and Jeff Lucas. We will be gathering to discuss this book on Monday 6th January at 7.00pm in the undercroft at St Peter’s. Please note that the book club for February will be on the second Monday of the month. The book for January will be discussed and the February book is “Walk Humbly” by Samuel Wells.
