Thought for the Week
Praying with purpose

Lord, we thank you for drawing close to us to hear our requests and petitions, and that the Holy Spirit helps us put our needs into words, and to plead our case before you. May our prayers play a significant part in the building of your kingdom on earth.

St Mary’s Market
The market is open every Wednesday and Saturday 10.30am - 3.30pm in St Mary’s church hall. Please come and have a browse, you might find just the thing you have been looking for.

St Peter's Church Gardening
This happens every Tuesday from 9.30am. If you would like to help in any way please turn up, you would be most welcome.
Please bring your own tools.

St Helen’s Churchyard
Everyone is very welcome to go into the churchyard, but PLEASE take your rubbish home with you. We are finding water bottles, drinks cans, crisp packets etc, just left where they fall. Someone has to pick them up and dispose of them off site, as there is no bin collection. Please help us keep this a place of tranquillity and beauty, and respect for our loved ones buried there.

St Helen’s Church Renovations
Although the building work has finished, there is still the painting and decorating to do. This is being done by a willing band of volunteers who would be very grateful of help. If you could spare a few hours, the work is being undertaken on Tuesdays & Thursdays between 10.00am and 4,00pm. Could you help? Please just come along bringing your own tools with you. And thank you in advance.

Rubbish at St Peter’s
Just to remind everybody. . . ...Flowers and green waste should go in the BROWN bin: disposable cups, including those used in church on Sunday’s should go in the GREEN bin, all other rubbish in the BLACK bin. Thank you

"Friends" of St Helen's
The Trustees of the “Friends” are in the process of setting this up and have applied for charitable status. Once this has been granted a bank account can be set up and the trustees will then be in a position to cast around for sources of donations.

Concert to Celebrate the Re-opening of St Helen’s Church
This will be held in St Helen’s Church on Saturday 28th August beginning at 3.00pm. “Quatrapuntal” will be performing. This is a rare chance to see Polly Green [voice] and Chris Hirst [Mandora & Portuguese guitar] from Quatrapuntal perform some of their original music, together with some well known songs recorded during lockdown. Check them out on www.quatrapuntal.com. There is no entry charge but you will be encouraged to make a donation on your way out.

Sunday 29th August
This day will be the official re-opening of St Helen’s Church. The service will be at 09.30am and everyone in the benefice is very welcome to attend.
Please click here for photographs of the refurbished church.

Ride & Stride
On Saturday 11th September our churches will be open between 10.00am and 6.00pm to welcome visitors needing a brief respite as they travel the island on foot, bicycle or car. Further details will follow when known.

Church Warden
We are looking for two people or maybe one, to stand as Church Warden at St Helen’s church. A knowledge of building work would be very useful. Please contact the Vicar or administrator, contact details above.

Extraordinary Parish Meeting
St Peter’s Thursday 26th August 2.00pm in St Peter’s Church
This is the last in our series of meetings to discuss the Way forward in our churches, mission & vision, and is open to everyone.
