There is a Quiz night for Brading Methodist Church on Friday 2nd May in St Mary’s Church Hall, starting at 7.00pm, to raise funds for Footprints Zambia, a charity supporting street children. £5.00 per person to include refreshments. Come on your own or as a team. There will also be a raffle.
St Mary’s have the first of their Plant Sales on Saturday 3rd May from 10.00am in the church hall. There will be refreshments, cakes, stalls, Farmer Ralph and all things plant related! Do come along.
St Peter’s Flower Festival is on 10.00am - 4.00pm from Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th May. You are also welcome to come to a special preview on Friday 2nd May from 6.00pm. £5.00 entry will give you a glass of wine and canapés, with proceeds to church funds. The Seaview Community Partnership May Fayre takes place in Madeira Road and St Peter's church garden on Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) from 10.00am-1.00pm. All are welcome by a small donation.
All are welcome at St Catherine's Chapel (part of the St Helens Community Centre) for evening worship this Sunday (4th May), 6.00pm - 6.45pm, followed by refreshments. This will be a Service of the Word.
This Sunday (4th May) there is a 'Spring Garden Opening' in aid of both St Lawrence and Brading Bell Restoration Appeals, at Woolverton Farm House, St Lawrence PO38 1XG from 2.00pm - 5.00pm. Tickets on the gate Adults £5.00, children under 12 FREE. Dogs on leads welcome.
VE Day celebrations: We are holding a brief service of Remembrance in St Peter’s memorial garden at 6.00pm on Thursday 8th May, followed by fish & chip suppers around the village. At 9.30pm there will be reading of the official VE Day 80 tribute and beacon lighting in front of The Old Fort. Commemorations continue at St Peter’s on 11th May at the 11.00am Service. Prayers of Commemoration will also be said at the Service of the Word in St Mary’s on Sunday 11th May at 9.30am.
On Sunday 11th May 2.00pm - 5.00pm 5pm the Brading Bellringers are holding a Cream Tea in St Mary's Church hall. Limited deliveries are available for those unable to get to the hall. To book contact Marghanita on 07841 903039 or at bradingbells(at)hotmail(dot)com Adults £5.00 under 16s £3.00. Booking is essential, by 5.00pm on Thursday 8th May. In aid of the bell restoration appeal.
Revd Karen and Sue Whitewick will be leading a training session for all Chalice Servers, both experienced and new, on Friday 16th May at 10.00am at St Peter’s church.
Revs Karen and Bevaly are planning to lead a Confirmation Course in the near future (June – July) for those wanting to be confirmed. The hope is that the IOW Confirmation service will be at St Mary’s Brading in the autumn. If you are interested in joining this group do please see Karen or Bevaly ASAP.
