At Eco Church this afternoon (Sunday 27th October), following a short reflection about the significance of poppies for remembrance, we will be recycling old poppy wreathes into garlands to adorn St Helen's Church Lych Gate, which is also the village War Memorial, before the Remembrance Service on 10th November. We meet in St Helen's church at 3.30pm, and following the easy, fun activity, we enjoy a shared supper of soup, cheeses, bread and cakes. You are most welcome to come and join us. No previous craft skills needed, just come and enjoy the afternoon.
Brading Bellringers are holding a Beetle Drive in aid of the Bell Restoration Appeal on 2nd November starting at 6:30pm in Brading church hall. £2 per person (under 16s free). There will also be a raffle and refreshments. All welcome, very Family Friendly!
Our All Souls service, remembering our departed loved ones, will be on 3rd November at 6.00pm in St Peter's Church, Seaview. There are clip boards in St Peter's, St Helen's and St Catherine's Chapel until 2nd November for you to add the names of any one you would like remembered at this service and all are very welcome to attend this service.
The Surplus Food Project will be at the Brading Youth & Community Centre every Monday between 1.15 and 1.45pm. Food surplus from supermarkets but still good to eat can be had for a donation. Spread the word!
The Yaverland Manor art exhibition raised a total of £869.60 from hosting the art day in June, sales of refreshments and 10% of all art sales over last weekend. The artists have agreed to make this an annual event, so thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible. They have also asked us to host a Christmas Craft Fayre on 16th-17th November. We were also gifted artist Paul Hewson’s original prints which would make ideal Christmas cards and post cards. St John’s, Yaverland
Rev Karen Wilson our new Priest in Charge will be licensed on Tuesday 12th November at 6.00pm in St Mary’s church, Brading (followed by refreshments in the Hall). Please pray for her and her husband Chris. You can read more about her here. Before the service we are in need of volunteers to help clean the church on Saturday 9th November from 9.30am -12.30pm (just turn up and bring a duster!) and also people to help set up the hall and the buffet from 4.30pm on 12th (before the service). Please give your names to your church warden to pass to St Mary’s social committee (via Nigel) if you can help. Thank you.
Julia Barton is coming from the Portsmouth Diocese Safeguarding team to do face to face Safeguarding Training in St Mary’s Church hall on Tuesday 19th November.
