On Saturday 27th September Vectis Brass are in concert at St Mary's starting at 7.30pm, refreshments and raffle during the interval and retiring collection in aid of Bell Restoration Appeal.

Eco Church is today (28th September) at 3.30pm in St Helen's church. Revd Karen will lead a service, and then we shall rake up the long grass in the churchyard after its end-of-season cut (please bring your own rake if you have one). Those not able to rake can keep the rest of us company and enjoy the churchyard. (phew!) We'll follow this with a shared supper.

Church Volunteers, however you give your time, Revd Karen warmly invites you to a ‘Thank You’ on Saturday 4th October at 10.00am in St Mary’s Church Hall, Brading. There will be tea, coffee and cake.

There will be a service of Compline (Night Prayer) to mark the end of Creationtide and the feast day of St Francis of Assisi at 6.00pm on Saturday 4th October at St Helen's Church. This will be a peaceful and prayerful service to which all are welcome

A joint choir for St Helen’s and St Peter’s is looking to be formed. If anyone would like to join the choir, who will sing during services at each church, please contact Suki Turner Suki(dot)turner(at)icloud(dot)com or Revd Karen.

The next Coffee Morning at St Mary’s is on Saturday 11th October in aid of church funds and the charity Ability Dogs for Children. There will be refreshments, cakes and stalls from the community, including Farmer Ralph.

The Isle of Wight Confirmation service is taking place on Sunday 19th October at 4.00pm in St Mary’s Church, Brading. Bishop Jonathan will preside and we have at least four candidates from the Haven benefice being confirmed so do please pray for Sharron, Lynne, Alex and Mike. We are also going to provide refreshments in the hall afterwards so if you can help with this please see Revd Karen. Please note the Evensong Service scheduled for that evening at St John’s, Yaverland has had to be cancelled.

Wedding Open Day: We are showcasing just how great our churches and halls are for weddings with organists, choir, flowers, bells, information, reception venues and even a cake. If you can help throughout the day (Saturday 1st November 10.00am - 3.00pm) please let Revd Karen know.

St Peter’s is having a ‘Live’ nativity on 20th December and would like a donkey to play the part of… ‘the donkey’! They are also looking for actors to play the parts of The Inn Keeper and his wife, Wise Men and Shepherds. No lines to learn, script is provided and does not have to be learned by heart. If anyone has a donkey or knows someone who does, or would like to act in the play please let Revd Karen know.

Harvest Festival: All goods will be donated to Foodbank charities, so thank you for your generous donations.

NB From October the main Sunday Service at St Peter’s will return to a 10 O’clock start. Please reset your watches!

The October issue of our parish magazine, 'What's On', is now out, and copies are at the back of each church, price 60p. If you would like to take out a subscription for just £6.00 p.a. it can be delivered to your door, thanks to our amazing band of volunteers! Contact Paul or Mary Jackson on 872326 to get set up.
