Christian Aid Appeal

There was a generous collection at St Peter’s Church last Sunday in response to Christian Aid’s appeal to which will be added some of the money raised at the Hot Soup in Warm Places. Anyone who has missed the offering for Turkey and Syria it is still not too late - please give any late donations to David Conway-Hughes, Sally or Sylvia.

AdLent Course

Based on the book How Rural Churches Thrive: A Practical Guide the course is heldin St Mary’s Church Hall and will be continuing throughout March. If you haven’t been to a session yet, you are very welcome to join now. We meet between 6.00pm & 7.30 pm in the Church Hall on Wednesday evenings and each session focuses on a new chapter. Refreshments are served and parking is free in the Old School Car park across the road courtesy of BCP.

Mothering Sunday

St Peter’s Church will celebrate Mothering Sunday with a non Eucharistic Family Service, starting at 11.15am on Sunday 19th March to which the Brownies and Guides have been invited.

6.30 pm on Saturday 25th March in the Church Hall.

Spring Cleaning !

It’s about to happen at St Peter’s Church and we would love your help at 10 o’clock on Saturday 25th March for an hour or so. Need to refuel during or afterwards? There will be Hot Dogs or a vegan option with tea, coffee etc to rehydrate.

St Helen’s Eco Church

Our next gathering will be on Sunday 26th March at 3.30 pm with tea and prayers during the afternoon.

April Fool Arts & Crafts and Table Top Sale

Saturday April 1st between 10.30am and 12.30pm in St Mary’s Church with refreshments available.

11.15 am on Sunday 2nd April - Palm Sunday

The Palm Sunday Service in St Peter’s Church will include within its worship a dramatised reading of the Passion according to Matthew.
The Way of the Cross: At 6.00 pm on the following Good Friday there will be a musical and spoken presentation of the Way of the Cross.

3 pm on Sunday 2nd April - Palm Sunday Walk

Meet at the Methodist Church in Brading at 3 pm to parade to St Mary's Church.

6 pm on Thursday 6th April - Maundy Thursday

A Maundy Thursday Service will take place in St Mary's Church.

8am on Sunday 9th April (Easter Sunday)

Easter breakfast will be available in St Mary’s Church Hall prior to the start of the service.

Community Events & Church Notices

Hot Soup in a Warm Place

St Peter’s invites you to come for hot soup in a warm space in the heated and newly refurbished under-croft of the Church Hall.
There is a choice of soup with bread and a cuppa. So just come along at noon on any of the following Wednesdays - 15th, 22nd and 29th March.

Coffee Mornings

St Mary’s Church has coffee morning on Saturday 11th March between 10.30am and 12.30pm in the church hall at Brading.

St Peter’s Church has coffee mornings on the third Saturday of each month with tea, coffee and biscuits of your choice. The next will start at 10.00am on Saturday 18th March.

Journey to Ephesus

Les Snow is giving a talk and video presentation about the ancient city of Ephesus - venue St Mary’s Church Hall at 7.00pm on Friday 17th March. Refreshments will be available. Entry is free and there will be a retiring collection.

Easter Egg Hunt between 12.00noon to 2.00pm Monday 10th April

Weather permitting, meet in St Mary’s Church, Brading and follow the trail collecting clues along the way for prizes from the Easter Bunny. Entry is free and all are welcome.

Food Bank Collection Venues

Giving up something for Lent? If chocolates, sweets or coffee, why not donate what you might have bought to a food bank. (Even better if your gift is Fairtrade sourced as it will help their farmers and growers)

St Mary’s Church continues as a collection point for tinned foods, toiletries and other essentials for those in need of aid in these difficult times. Please place your donations at the back of the church.

Food bank baskets for non-perishable food are also situated at the back of St Peter’s Church, The Orange Tree in Madeira Road and Penforma on the corner of Bluett Avenue and Salterns, all in Seaview.

It’s Your Call

If you are sensing a call to serve God as a LLM/Reader, Pioneer, Youth Minister, Anna Chaplain, Evangelist, Lay Pastoral Assistant, Lay Worship Leader, Lay Preacher then please join us at St John’s Church Hall, Ryde, from 2 pm to 4 pm, on Saturday 25th March, to find out more about what’s happening with licensed/commissioned Lay Ministry provision in the Diocese. You will have the opportunity to talk to some of the Vocations Team and some specialists.

St Mary’s PCC will meet in the church hall at 6 pm on Tuesday 14th March.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting for St Mary’s, Brading will be held after church on Sunday 16th April.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting for St Peter’s, Seaview will be held after the service on Sunday 16th April as part of a bring and share lunch.
