Our Service PatternsThe Haven Benefice is hoping to emerge from the long interregnum and for an experienced Vicar to be appointed. Currently we are dependent upon Reverend Barry Downer(and occasionally Reverend Janice O’Shaughnessy and other retired ministers) for Eucharistic services. Our lay leadership comprises local minister Sylvia Beardsmore, and worship leaders Andrew Bradstock, Joan Solomon and Jonathan Norton. St Catherine’s has started providing a lay led evening service on the first Sunday of each month and will introduce a Eucharistic service when there is an opportunity. BCP Matins is being introduced at St Peter’s church on alternate weekends with support from Greville Socket of Ryde. With your support, together we can hopefully grow our churches as we gather for worship, praise and fellowship. See the Pew sheets and What’s On for the dates and times of Services. Anna Chaplaincy- 2.00 pm on Tuesday 26th SeptemberThe Mothers Union hosts the first of our Anna Chaplaincy events at 2.00pm on Tuesday 26th September when we have our Harvest Praise in St Peter’s church. Everyone is very welcome especially older people and their carers. This will be an informal and relaxed service including music, song, activities, tea and a cake walk. We have several older people who wish to attend but would need transport and assistance. If you can provide transport to and from the event, please could you contact Sylvia on 01983 612600. St Marys Art Exhibition 29th September to 1st OctoberSt Mary’s is hosting a three day art exhibition in the Church Hall starting at 10:00am with doors closing at 4:00pm each day. We are looking for volunteers to be on duty to serve coffees and teas, and cakes, if anybody is willing to make some. Please could you let Nigel Elton-Waters know if you can cover an hour or two on any of the days. St Peter’s Harvest Festival - 11.15am on Sunday 1st OctoberSt Peter’s Harvest Festival will be followed at 12:30pm by a Ploughman’s Harvest Lunch. Water will be available but you may bring something stronger if you wish. Tickets will be £7.50 per head and can be reserved by contacting Suki on 07940 503971. St Peter’s Pet Service - 11.15am on Sunday 15th OctoberAll owners and their pets are welcome to this special, non-Eucharistic service at which all owners and their pets may receive a blessing if they wish. Our churches in ActionRita, who worships with us in St Peter’s and St Helen’s, comes from from Gbatala, a village in Liberia where there is an extreme climate - 6 months of rain followed by 6 months dry and dusty conditions. It is always extremely hot and there is no running water or sewers. We launched a project to provide a standpipe, along with other items to be shipped out soon. You can help us with donations of umbrellas, light rainwear, wellington boots for children and Bibles. For more information please see Rita or Liz Fletcher. For those in our congregation who would like to donate money to Rita’s village to go towards the installation of a standpipe for water, please give cash in an envelope to Rita, Liz or the churchwardens or direct to St Peter’s church via BACS transfer clearly marked Liberia. Update: Thank you to everyone who has donated items or cash for the appeal for Gbatala. The barrel chest is almost full and will go on 27th September. Any last minute donations will be gratefully accepted. St John’s Church Votive StandWe would greatly appreciate any help in sourcing a votive stand. This could either be a spare one from an existing church or any donations towards purchasing a new one. Next Year’s Plant Sale at St Mary’sMessage from Lesley Attrill.
