Palm Sunday at St Peter’s ChurchThe weather was kind to us in Seaview last Sunday when we gathered in Sophie Weston Gardens for the Blessing of the Palms by Sylvia. The procession then made its way led by the donkey to a packed St Peter’s Church where Graham Poutney and his team presented a dramatised reading of St Mark’s Gospel before we joined in Holy Communion for Palm Sunday. The Mothers' Union Quiet DayOn Monday 3rd April, members of the Mothers' Union on the Island were joined by Diocesan President and Diocesan members and enjoyed a quiet day at Carisbrooke Priory led by Sylvia. The day concluded with a service of Holy Communion, followed by a delicious cream tea. 8 am on Sunday 9th April (Easter Sunday)Easter breakfast will be available in St Mary’s Church Hall prior to the start of the service for those who have booked via Nigel Elton-Waters. Easter Lilies at St Peter’s ChurchAs Lent comes to a close, flowers will return to St Peter’s Church with a display of Easter-lilies. If you wish to make a donation of £3 for a stem in memory of a loved one, please sign the sheet at the back of church. Can you help? We need bottles, lots of bottles!St Helen’s Church will be having a stall at the May Fayre in Seaview on May 1st with a Bottle Tombola fundraising to convert the shed in the grounds of the Vicarage into a hub for children to use when doing activities in the churchyard.
If you could give some bottles to help us, then we would be very grateful.
The bottles can be filled with anything that is in date and unused from Champagne, whisky, ketchup, water, wine, body lotion, perfume, to vinegar …. the list is endless.
Bottles can be left at the back of St Helen’s Church, given to Rose Gillett or collected if you ring 01983 612440 and leave a message. Easter Egg Hunt Monday 10th April 12.00noon to 2.00 pmWeather permitting, meet in St Mary’s Church, Brading and follow the trail collecting clues along the way for prizes from the Easter Bunny. Entry is free and all are welcome. St Mary's Bell Tower 11am – 3pm on Monday 10th AprilWe have a tower open day to coincide with the Easter Egg Hunt and there will be ringing demonstrations and information about the restoration project. St Peter's Church Coffee MorningThe regular coffee morning will be held in the church hall from 10.00am - 12.00noon on Saturday 15th April. Everyone is very welcome and, as always, there will be stalls, tombola and a raffle.
St Mary's Open CaféThe next St Mary's Open Café will be from 10:30am onwards on Saturday 22nd April in the church hall with Brading Community Choir singing.
Nina RossNina Ross will be performing at a concert at Brading Roman Villa starting at 7:30 pm on Saturday 22nd April.
Food Bank Collection VenuesDid you give up something for Lent? If you gave up chocolates, sweets or coffee, did you donate what you might have normally had to a food bank? If you didn’t, it’s not too late to send something along!! St Mary’s Church continues as a collection point for tinned foods, toiletries and other essentials for those in need of aid in these difficult times. Please place your donations at the back of the church. St Peter's Church: Food bank baskets for non-perishable food are also situated at the back of the church, The Orange Tree in Madeira Road and Penforma on the corner of Bluett Avenue and Salterns all in Seaview. Annual Parochial Church MeetingsThe Annual Parochial Church Meeting for St Mary’s, Brading will be held after church on Sunday 16th April. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) for St Peter’s, Seaview will be held after the service on Sunday 16th April as part of a bring and share lunch. There will be vacancies to fill at the APCM . Anyone willing to join the PCC will be very welcome on condition that you are a regular worshipper in the church and are on the Electoral Roll. Application Forms for the Electoral Roll are available at the back of the church and Sylvia Beardsmore is our Electoral Roll Officer. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting for St Helen's will be held after the morning service on Sunday 23rd April ie at 10:45am. |
