The Coronation of King Charles IIIThe coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023 at Westminster Abbey and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside the Queen Consort. A Prayer for our KingAlmighty God, the fountain of all goodness, bless our Sovereign Lord, King Charles, and all who are in authority under him; that they may order all things in wisdom and equity, righteousness and peace, to the honour of your name, and the good of your Church and people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen St Mary’s Church Coronation PartyBrading Town Council has organised a Coronation Party on Sunday 7th May at Brading Football field. St Mary’s Church has reserved a pitch for a fund raising Tombola stall for the Church. (Start time to be confirmed.) Nigel Elton-Waters is asking for assistance to run the stall, on the day, the loan of a gazebo and any bottles for the tombola. Seaview Celebrations for the CoronationOn Sunday 7th May, there will be a Service of the Word at St Peter’s Church led by our Local Minister, Sylvia.
The service starts at 10 am, providing an earlier finish that enables members of the congregation to participate in the Street Party that starts at mid-day.
There will be a sail past arranged by Seaview Sailing Club along with a Gun Salute. Seaview May Fayre : 10 am to 1pm on Sunday 1st MayThe May Fayre is an annual event held in Madeira Road organised by the Nettleston and Seaview Community Partnership. It has live music, craft stalls, church stalls, bottle tombola and plants for sale. Refreshments will be served from the Undercroft of St Peter’s Church including tea, coffees and home made cakes. Throughout the weekend there will also be St Peter’s Flower Festival entitled The Jewel in the Crown. Confirmation CourseThe Island will be holding a Confirmation Service this year at 4 pm on 10th September in St John’s Church, Newport (venue to be confirmed). Accordingly a confirmation course is planned to start at the end of May that candidates within your parishes are welcome to attend. The course will be held on Tuesday evenings in the Parish Centre, Town Lane, Newport.
The dates have been picked to avoid major school holidays.
Each session will start at 7 pm with refreshments and will finish no later than 9 pm.
The sessions will be as interactive as possible and will be suitable for all ages. If you have any candidates who would be interested in joining this confirmation course, please email emma(dot)cooksey(at)cofeheartofwight(dot)org to book a place. Can you help? We need bottles, lots of bottles!St Helen’s Church will be having a stall at the May Fayre in Seaview on May 1st with a Bottle Tombola fundraising to convert the shed in the grounds of the Vicarage into a hub for children to use when doing activities in the churchyard.
If you could give some bottles to help us, then we would be very grateful.
The bottles can be filled with anything that is in date and unused. St Mary’s Social GroupThis is a new and inclusive group that had its first meeting on Friday 15th April. Anyone can join and/or come forward with ideas for social gatherings and fund raising. It is hoped that we might be able to meet once a month and add to the programme we have already identified from now until 8th December. St Mary's Plant SaleThere will be a Plant Sale in the church hall from 10:30 on Saturday 13th May. Along with plants there will craft stalls, tea, coffee & cakes and bacon butties! Please bring any donated plants before the sale. St Mary’s Jumble SaleA jumble sale is planned for Saturday 3rd June - watch this space! Supporting our local Food BanksSt Mary’s Church continues as a collection point for tinned foods, toiletries and other essentials for those in need of aid in these difficult times. Please place your donations at the back of the church. St Peter's Church: Food bank baskets for non-perishable food are also situated at the back of the church, The Orange Tree in Madeira Road and Penforma on the corner of Bluett Avenue and Salterns all in Seaview. |
