St Peter’s Church, SeaviewOver 70 people, including children, attended our Coronation Service put together by Sylvia our Local Minister and Sally Rivlin. Shown above is our Events Choir who led our songs of praise and thanksgiving. Phoenix Choir at St Helen’s ChurchThe much acclaimed Phoenix Choir will be performing at St Helen's Church at 7.30pm on Saturday 27th May raising money for our ‘Kids’ Shed Appeal’. We would greatly appreciate donations of raffle prizes and these would be gratefully received by Sue Whitewick in advance please. St Mary’s Social GroupSt Mary's social group would like to thank all those who donated bottles for the tombola stall at the Brading Coronation event. £140 was raised. St Mary’s Jumble SaleThe doors open at our jumble sale at 2.00pm on Saturday 3rd June. Donated items can be taken in from 11.00am onwards. Christian Aid Walk on Saturday 20th MayStarting at Christ Church Sandown at 10:30am. A circular walk along the cliff path and back along the Esplanade. All welcome, see Lesley Attrill for details and sponsorship. Brading Bell RingersBrading Bell Ringers rang on Coronation day from 9.00 - 9.30am to mark our King’s Coronation, then on Sunday afternoon we had our mobile bell tower at the Brading picnic afternoon encouraging people to Ring for the King. On Monday we rang 860 changes of Grandsire Triples with a band of entirely Brading Ringers. Our eldest ringer (June) has now rung for George VI's Funeral, Elizabeth II's Coronation, all of Elizabeth’s Jubilees, Elizabeth’s Funeral and now the Coronation of Charles III - what an amazing record. Cream Teas to Your Local Door!A very tempting treat being offered by Brading Bell Ringers on Saturday 20th May.

This service will be followed by a Eucharist picnic in the garden at St John’s and Sylvia says “Rest assured there are now toilet facilities at Yaverland!” Seaview Coronation PartyThe Seaview Coronation Street Party was a very well attended event that was organised by the Nettlestone and & Seaview Community Partnership (see above). St Peter’s “Jewels in the Crown”A flower festival to remember and above is A Floral Crown, one of many splendid floral arrangements that were on display. Conformation CourseThe Island will be holding a Confirmation Service this year at 4 pm on 10th September in St John’s Church, Newport (venue to be confirmed). Accordingly a confirmation course is planned to start at the end of May that candidates within your parishes are welcome to attend. The course will be held on Tuesday evenings in the Parish Centre, Town Lane, Newport.
The dates have been picked to avoid major school holidays.
Each session will start at 7 pm with refreshments and will finish no later than 9 pm.
The sessions will be as interactive as possible and will be suitable for all ages. If you have any candidates who would be interested in joining this confirmation course, please email emma(dot)cooksey(at)cofeheartofwight(dot)org to book a place. Supporting our local Food BanksSt Mary’s Church continues as a collection point for tinned foods, toiletries and other essentials for those in need of aid in these difficult times. Please place your donations at the back of the church. St Peter's Church: Food bank baskets for non-perishable food are also situated at the back of the church, The Orange Tree in Madeira Road and Penforma on the corner of Bluett Avenue and Salterns all in Seaview. |
