Brading Bell Ringers

Brading Bell Ringers rang on Coronation day from 9.00 - 9.30am to mark our King’s Coronation, then on Sunday afternoon we had our mobile bell tower at the Brading picnic afternoon encouraging people to Ring for the King. On Monday we rang 860 changes of Grandsire Triples with a band of entirely Brading Ringers. Our eldest ringer (June) has now rung for George VI's Funeral, Elizabeth II's Coronation, all of Elizabeth’s Jubilees, Elizabeth’s Funeral and now the Coronation of Charles III - what an amazing record.

Conformation Course

The Island will be holding a Confirmation Service this year at 4 pm on 10th September in St John’s Church, Newport (venue to be confirmed).

Accordingly a confirmation course is planned to start at the end of May that candidates within your parishes are welcome to attend.

The course will be held on Tuesday evenings in the Parish Centre, Town Lane, Newport. The dates have been picked to avoid major school holidays. Each session will start at 7 pm with refreshments and will finish no later than 9 pm. The sessions will be as interactive as possible and will be suitable for all ages.
Week 1: 23rd May - Introduction - What is confirmation?
Break for Whitsun holidays
Week 2: 6th June - Who is God?
Week 3: 13th June - Who is Jesus?
Week 4: 20th June - Who is the Holy Spirit?
Week 5: 27th June - The Church
Week 6: 4th July - Living as a Christian
The course will be based on the book: Faith Confirmed: Preparing for Confirmation by Peter Jackson and Chris Wright and therefore each church will need to buy a copy of this book for each candidate for their own reading and study.

If you have any candidates who would be interested in joining this confirmation course, please email emma(dot)cooksey(at)cofeheartofwight(dot)org to book a place.
