Our churches in action

Rita, who worships with us in St Peter’s and St Helen’s, comes from a village in Liberia where there is an extreme climate - six months of rain followed by six months dry and dusty conditions. It is always extremely hot and they have no running water or sewers. We are launching a project to help provide a standpipe, and items to be shipped out later in the year. You can help us with donations of light rainwear, umbrellas, and Bibles. For more information please see Rita or Liz Fletcher.

Benefice Service of Holy Communion

Last week’s Benefice Holy Communion service at St Helen's was very well attended with all three newly appointed Worship Leaders, Joan Solomon & Jonathan Norton from St Mary’s, and Andrew Bradstock from St Helen’s, contributing to the service. Helen Bradstock, a church-warden of St Helens, and her husband, Andrew spoke of the history of Pilgrimages, their current revival and plans to establish Pilgrimage trails around our Island.

St Mary’s Churchyard

In line with national directives, St Mary’s PCC undertakes tidying the graveyard and clearing items and memorabilia from graves. This will take place twice a year and the next clearance will be on Thursday 31st August 2023. If there are any items you wish to keep you are welcome to collect them. . Please direct any queries to the Churchwarden, Nigel Elton-Waters.

St Peter’s Memorial Garden

We have planted three new roses in the church memorial garden: the varieties are Alexander, Mamma Mia, and Keep Smiling. And we have space for three more: if you would like one of these roses (or a new rose) dedicated to a loved one at a cost of £30, please let Sylvia know on 01983 612600.
