The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is the Latin word for rejoice, and this Sunday is the time for us to rejoice because Jesus came and died so that we may live forever with him!
The Together in Prayer group meets on Zoom each Wednesday from 7.30pm to pray for the world, the church and each other.
For the Zoom code or to be prayed for please email revbevrackett(at)gmail(dot)com.
Both St Mary’s and St Peter’s collect tinned foods, toiletries and other essentials for the Food bank. St Helen’s has a Community Fridge food waste Project: visit the Community Centre and take what you can use to prevent food from going in the bin, plus follow them on the St Helens Community Fridge Facebook page.
Just a gentle reminder that food left at the back of the church is for the food bank or specific charities. If you are in need please see Sylvia or Rev Bevaly.
The Brading Community Nativity was a great success (even though Gary the Donkey couldn’t make it) where lots of children enacted the Nativity story as we travelled round Brading, singing carols and finding Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in a stable in the Oglander Chapel. Many thanks to all who took part and provided refreshments.
St Helen's Church will be hosting its annual carols by candlelight TONIGHT, 17th December, at 6pm. This will feature a varied and original programme of readings, carols and reflections, and there will be mince pies and mulled wine to follow. Everyone is very welcome – do bring a torch!
There will be a Traditional Burns lunch in St Peter’s church hall on Sunday 28th Jauary 2024 at 12.30pm - £10 per person. Details to follow.
